bomb blasts?

Hi folks:

I have a small piece of heaven (land) in the Pipes Canyon area (near Pioneertown) and as I was out walking around yesterday at about 1 or 2 in the afternoon, I heard two huge thundering sounds. I first thought it was thunder but although there was some overcast, it did not seem like the type of clouds that would produce a storm.

I have heard military practice bombing from my place (I'm about 30-60 miles away from the bombing range or so I thought) but it is not usually so loud! My mind was racing, is this thunder? is this military practice? is the U.S. being attacked? We did see a few choppers fly over immediately after so we assumed all was ok. Or as ok as it can be in that situation.

Did anyone else hear this yesterday?

    Oh yeah! It's 29 Bombs!
You might notice that some explosions are bigger than others... they will often train to find a single land mine, but they also will bomb a field detinating multiples, causing some serious shakin. I often wonder how this might affect our local fault line.

Nice thing about living where I do here on the south side of JT up from the village - I never hear their "practice". I suspect that over time it will be something that you get used to somewhat.

I live on the in between the village of Joshua Tree and the park entrance (west entrance), and i dont just hear them i feel them. Our house is no shack either. It rattles the windows and doors. It reminds me of the tremmors and aftershocks following the landers quake in '92.
